The article page itself is public, which makes the idea look simple: one URL in, a list of images out. In practice the images come from a hotlink-protected host that checks the referring page, so a server fetching them out of context is refused.

What this tool actually does

Honest about coverage

The provider's supported-sites list does not include mp.weixin.qq.com, so this page says the job is unsupported instead of running a request that would be rejected upstream.

What the tool will do

When a provider covers WeChat articles, the tool will take one article URL and list the inline images and any media it finds, each with its dimensions where they are reported.

What works today

Opening the article in a browser and saving images individually works now. That keeps the request in the context the image host expects, which is precisely what a server cannot reproduce.

What will this tool do once a provider supports it?
It will accept a single mp.weixin.qq.com article URL and return the images and media that appear inside it, listed one by one with whatever metadata the provider reports, instead of downloading the whole page.
Is there a way to save the images today?
Yes, by hand. Open the article in a browser and save the images you need individually, or use long-press to save on a phone. That request carries the article page as its context, which is exactly what a server-side fetch lacks.
